FW: Hash Update & Hash Trash

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings Hashers,

A busy month for the KH3 - two spectacular runs in the same month - the Ranch Run in town, & the Outpost Run in Sorrento.  The Pics are up for all the hashes - just head to the Website and click on "Hash Flash" - then follow the drop down list.  Lots of awesome pics from the last few runs - cheers to our creative Flash Team - Midstream & Corporal Punishment!!!

Who's Corporal Punishment some of you may be asking?  There were a couple of namings in Sorrento (hint - Mum & Daughter) - you can read the Hash Trash while on the website - or check the copy below!!

While on the website, you might want to check out your own stats - hit "Hash Data" for all your info; first run, latest run, number of runs, etc.  You can even study up on what people's hash names are.  No name yet - see how soon you'll be at 5 runs!!!  As No Name Leona & No Name Veki pointed out, the "Hashing Terms" & "Hash History" are also great ways to learn more about hashing :-).

Next run will be on World Peace Day when many Hashes will be running globally - that will be on Tuesday September 21st - note the change to an earlier week day.  Quick n' Qweemie & Free & Easy are setting up what should be a spectacular run.  A 6pm run, so bring your flashlights, as it will be dark'ish by the time we wrap up.  Been ages since I've done a night run - should be a blast.  More details to come, plus the Runs & Hares are set for October & November - check the "Hareline" on the Website for continually updated details.

That's about it, be sure to contact any of us on the Committee if you have any questions.  Enjoy the pics and the Trash (below) - have a great weekend.

On On,

Topsy (RA)

Run 43 – Sorrento Outpost Run

21 August 2010 – Nothing The Hare

Nothing hosted this latest Kamloops Hash Outpost Extravaganza in beautiful, if somewhat smoky, Sorrento on Saturday.  What a breathtaking setting and perfect weather (thanks – RA!!) for a run through the wilderness.  Some came for the evening, others the night - Free & Easy & Loggerhead found ample parking in the cul-de-sac for their bed on wheels, while Topsy & No Name Mark survived a night in the tent trailer with the Prairie Cougar. What happens in the trailer stays in the trailer.  Corporal Punishment & No Name Ryan found a lovely secluded (& scenic) slope to set their tent up on – though they did not find the buck knife until morning.

24 Hashers gathered for a briefing from Nothing before ducking beneath the barbed wire and down dirt roads and trails.  Shouts of On-On and the call of Choo Choo on the bugle, spurred us all on.  Many familiar faces showed up again, as well as some not seen in a while, including Vulga Olga gracing us with her presence after being away for far too long.  Nosehare and White Trash were as vocal as ever in calling out the On On’s.  Prairie Cougar, Choo Choo, P-On On & Free & Easy led the way up some lung burning hills, momentarily losing the scent in the scrub – until Loggerhead and his moonshine jug rolled in to show the way – calling the rest of us out as Long Cutting Bastards.  Late comers Loel and Speedo’s Bitch were not quite as late as Pit Bull, but at least Pit Bull found the scent and the Beer Check.  What a BC it was, with Nothing pouring, the rest of us enjoyed the lager and the view…not to mention the short break and the wine tour!!!

A short downhill run back to Nothing & Sue’s for a cool beverage or three, and on to the Circle.  Our Host & Hare, Nothing, provided us with a taste of Asian Hashing…in the form of a large block of ice – so who better to initiate it with his own back end than Nothing himself!!  Bad Gas filled in as the assistant to the assistant Beermaster and was then initiated as the KH3’s new Beermaster.  Meanwhile, Midstream & Corporal Punishment continued their wonderful job of picture taking.  Infractions and Down Down’s continued in the longest circle in recent memory – including Ryan , Tom, Won, Ann & Pat receiving their Virgin Down Downs.  Many received an Ice Seat for failing to use Hash Names, and more that a couple received DD’s for Hash Racism – including Choo Choo…finally!!  (R-A-C-E is not a hash word) J  Corporal Punishment called out No Name Ryan for failing to call out On On; Speedo’s Bitch turned in his buddy Loel for littering, & Midstream’s calling out of “Oh Randy” to Bad Gas still rings in my ears.  Finally, No Name Bonnie is a no name no more – the Circle bounced around multiple names, finally calling on her previous service to her country as inspiration for “Corporal Punishment”.  CP’s mum Deb was also back from Saskatchewan for another run with the KH3 – and we’re sending her home with her own hash name – “Prairie Cougar”.  We hate to give her up, but now she’s ready for the Toon Town Hash of Saskatoon!!!

Many shorts were ice cold and wet following the Circle – except Qwick n’ Qweemie with her Qwick Dry shorts J  So, a few changed gear, the bbq fired up, amazing Asian food was uncovered, and a phenomenal buffet appeared!!  The locals, Anne and Pat, found the food to be just wonderful – as did everyone else.  Many delicious dishes were provided, many platefuls consumed, and many a full belly lounged afterwards…with a bevvie perched nearby.  Perfect.

Conversation continued, but before long Qwick n’ Qweamie slipped away before night fall to find a soft bed in Blind Bay, while Tom & Won crossed the lake to Scotch Creek.  By the time midnight rolled around, all were a slumber, except Corporal Punishment, Prairie Cougar, No Names Mark & Ryan, & Topsy, who were playing cards in the tent trailer…until 4am.  As a result, Pee On On wasn’t the only one who found the “music” from the bugle at eight the next morning to be loud and downright rude by Hash Master Choo Choo!!

Thanks again to Nothing & Susan for a wonderful time – same time next year (?) J

Next run, Tuesday September 21st – check the Hareline for details!!!

On On – Choo Choo & Topsy.

Hello Again Hashers,

Just a reminder that Nothing's Thai Extravaganza Outpost Hash takes place this Saturday (August 21st) in Sorrento - directions can be seen on the Hareline on the KH3 website.  The run starts at 4pm, Circle & Dinner to follow.

It's a Thai Potluck, but any delish Asian food will be gratefully accepted and devoured - in the interest of keeping duplicate meals to a minimum, please let Nothing know what you're bringing - kensuemoyes@hotmail.com

Nothing and his lovely wife will be making a big pot of Penang or Massaman Curry, along with steamed rice.  I believe I'll be bringing along lettuce wraps.  You can cook, or heat up your meals there!!

Things to bring - don't forget your chairs, of course your food, and warm clothing for the evening.  You are more than welcome to stay the night, so bring your tent/trailer - motels are down the road for those who like a more solid structure.  Nothing has said those in tents will have access to their bathroom via the back door.  Also, dogs are welcome - as long as they get along :-).  If you're staying overnight, you'll want to keep them close when you're sleeping as there has been a few coyotes around, though not over the last week.

It's going to be a blast - run at 4, circle at 5'ish, dinner at 6'ish - again, please let Nothing know if you'll be attending, what you may be bringing, and if you'll be staying overnight - so he can make appropriate plans (kensuemoyes@hotmail.com).  Still, if you're not sure, but discover you can make it - come on along!!!

More info & directions from Nothing below.

On On,

Topsy.

Directions from the West

Drive from Kamloops towards Salmon Arm.  Go past Chase, and about 20 Km further, you will see the speed sign saying slow to 70 Km as you enter Sorrento.  Go very slow at this point and watch for a Petro Canada station ahead on the left side of the road.

Just before you get to the Petro Canada station, you will see a road on your right going up the hill.  This is Notch Hill Road.  There will be a small strip mall on your left after you turn up this road.

Follow Notch Hill road up and about 1 Km up you will see a road on your left called MacKenzie road.  Do not make this turn but rather, continue to follow along on Notch Hill road and a bit further, it will take a sharp turn to the left.  At this point, you will see a small electrical sub-station on your left.  About 3 blocks past this turn in the road, you will see another sign for MacKenzie Road, up a short hill to your left.

Take this turn for MacKenzie and follow up for a couple hundred metres to the top and then you will see Kyte Road on your right.  Turn onto Kyte and at this point, you will see a tree farm nursery on your left.  (MacKenzie actually loops and joins Notch Hill road in two places but the first turn is very sharp and there are some twisty sections at the beginning so the second entrance is better and quicker)

About a ½ Km up Kyte, you will see Ewart Road (this is now a dirt road) going down on your left.  Turn down Ewart and when you get to the bottom the road makes a 90 degree turn to the right.  Follow on to the very end (about 9 houses down) and you will then be at our place;  we are in the mobile home on the left at the end of the road.   The true address is 1617 Ewart Road.

Local tel number is:  250-253-1546

Hi all,  I am finally getting my act together and finding some time to devote to the Aug 21 Out-Post hash here in Sorrento.

Some things people need to know.

- there is plenty of room in and around our place for any campers/RV's people would like to bring.

- there is also lots of space for tents on a grassy area at the back of our place..(with a great view of the lake...those who tent can probably use our back door for access to a washroom and shower.

- there is a large BBQ on the deck (4 burner type) along with a two burner gas grill and a one burner wok stove.  Inside there is a large gas range with oven.

- we talked about a pot luck dinner with a Thai theme but no one needs to stick to this if you don't have a recipe or what-ever.  We will put on a large pot of Thai curry along with plain rice for everybody to have a taste.

- for those who stay overnight, we could do a big pot of rice soup with chicken for breakfast (a traditional Thai breakfast called Khao Tom Gai)

- we are also open to any other ideas....just email ahead.

On On,

Nothing.

FW: Hash Trash - 12 August 2010

Greetings Hashers,

By all reports, Run #42 was another successful and enjoyable run for the Kamloops Hash House Harriers.  We returned to the bountiful run country that is Rose Hill – courtesy of our fine host, Fred.  From waist high grass fields, to bushwacking through the trees, this run provided good variety for the pack, including a beer check halfway through the run – a first for the Kamloops Kennel.

Deb Noble returned from the flatlands of Saskatchewan - in just one day’s drive from Ponteix (just down the road from Aneroid) for this Hash Run. Judy and Karen were virgins who really like the Beer Check – it made it “their kind of run”.  Karen B & Leona returned for their second hash.  Jacqueline enjoyed the picturesque beauty of this run through the Rosehill area, & has captured the beauty in her mind for future happy places for stress relief.  Fred was our gracious host who made sure we did not stray from the trail to get to the down downs before sundown.  Bare Ass enjoyed the run until the sun went down as the temp plummeted to below twenty degrees in minutes.  Quick n’ Qweamy with her companion Nikki was joined by Lisa and her four legged friend. They did not scare up any deer this time. Squat along with Jonathan, F’N T & Deb were out front with P-On-On close by.  White Trash was as helpful as ever finding the scent. Horny Wallaby enjoyed this varied trail and will have to miss the next one for birthing duty - a little weak, but we'll accept it.  Choo Choo and Topsy were the Hares and did not get the toilet seat (possibly thanks to the BC).

At the Circle, the Kamloops Hash House Harriers paid tribute to Shark Bait one of the founding members of this kennel. We all gathered around and energetically sang the “Down Down Song”, “She’s a hasher through & through, tried to get to heaven & (yes) she went the RIGHT way”!!!

White Trash then called out the Hares – Choo Choo, Topsy & Fred – and were given passing marks by the hash – phew!!!  Beermaster (& Hash Horn for the day), F’n Trail was called in & DD’d for losing his knob (aka the horn mouthpiece) on the run.  Fred was called in for hosting, and painting the forest orange!!  Our Virgins, Judy & Karen A. enjoyed their rites into Hasherhood from Deb & Karen B.  Deb & Lisa were then called back in as returnees & downed their beers eagerly!!  Two of the FRB’s, No Name Jonathan & F’n Trail paid the price for not marking the intersections for slower members of the pack.  Then Horny Wallaby called out your faithful RA, Topsy, for poor weather arrangement – apparently It was closer to minus 32 than the promised plus 32 – though it must be said, the weather was great for the run J

Following the Circle, the bbq’s were fired up – and surrounded by chilly hashers like fire barrels on a cold city street.  Monster Cheeseburgers, Smokies, Snacks, delish Apple Crisp (cheers Deb) & cool beer were consumed with delight in the tranquil cottage setting atop Rose Hill.  A great night of hashing, thank-you to all who showed up, and made it such a success.

Next run, next Saturday – the 21st of August.  It’s an Outpost Run, a Thai Night hosted by Nothing in Sorrento.  For details and directions, check the Hareline on the Website.

Greetings all you Hashers. This run will be delightful for all abilities. Even Horny Wallaby's. You might want to breakout the gators for it has lots spear grass and long grasses or long pants will work. Also watch your four legged friends as the circle with have some wild cats who pounce on dogs. So let me or Topsy know who is coming so we can have enough refreshments and stuff.

Cheers

Hash reminder and request

Greetings Hashers,

A quick reminder of this week's run - Run Number 42, as we continue to explore all the available terrain up Rose Hill.  The forecast is looking good with sunshine and a high of 34 degrees - woohoo!!!

So, this Thursday, the 12th of August, we'll be having a farmland run further up the hill, the usual 6pm start time.  As it says on the Hareline, head a little over 8km up Rose Hill Road.  On a tight right turn you'll pass a schoolhouse flying the Texas Flag (why?? I don't know), then you'll cross a cattle guard, and quickly find a field gate on your left - head in there and park your vehicle.  The grass is long, some may prefer pants, but shorts will be fine too.

Now, this is an A to B run, though it's only a short 15 minute walk back to the cars after the bbq.  We're looking at burgers and some munchies (along with the regular beverages) for the bbq.  Usual $5 for run & beer ($3 for non-beer drinkers) - an additional $5 for the bbq.  The B is an awesome little spot - an idyllic location to relax, and enjoy all the good things in Hash Life!!!

Speaking of which, Choo Choo & I will be heading out to pick up the fixings for the bbq on Tuesday and would really like a good idea on how many burgers, etc to pick up.  Please send an email to Choo Choo or myself (topsy.hashes@gmail.com or jeanandbrian@telus.net) and let us know if you can or cannot make it.  We will aim to have extras there for you :-)

It's going to be another great night out, nothing says summer like hashing, beer & bbq...in the sun!!!!  :-)  We look forward to seeing you there, and we hope to hear from you very soon!!!

On On,

Topsy.
