Greetings Hashers,
To all those who made it out to October's Pub Run, well done. To those who didn't, we missed you and hope to see you at November's Annual Grey Cup Run!!!
From all reports, a great time was had by the entire pack. You'll find the Hash Trash below and on the website, where you'll also find the updated Hash Data with your latest Hash Stats. Hulkster has also posted the latest Hareline with some of the details on November & December's runs. Nosehare and I met this past week, and the Grey Cup run will be the usual great time and more. He'll be doing up a great feast of chilli, and we're turning it into a potluck to make it even more interesting. So, if able, bring along a snack or appie (or whatever appeals to you), and following the run and circle we'll have plenty or nourishment for the big game...oh yes, and beer too!!!
I've received some great pics from the Pub Run from Choo Choo, so I shall endeavour to get captions on them and posted - I'm out of town for the next few days, but am working on it while away :-), it'll happen. Thanks again to our sponsors from Frick & Frack Tap House, Kelly O'Bryan's Restaurant, & the Noble Pig Brewhouse. Enjoy the Hash Trash, & I hope to see y'all again soon.
On On,
Topsy.

Hares: Corporal Punishment & Topsy
What a wonderful day of Hashing. Hats off to Corporal Punishment and Topsy for the Kamloops Hash House Harrier's first (hopefully Annual) Pub Run. Having a run in the city downtown had its challenges, with so many people wondering about the sawdust and paint. With five beer checks and pit stops, it was outstanding.
17 Hashers, and Hash Hare Volunteer Mike, gathered at two in the afternoon across from Memorial Arena on Lansdowne St. – the weather looked promising (“my pleasure” - RA). Topsy headed off to ensure bevies would be ready at the first stop, while Corporal Punishment presented the gathering with all the facts they would need for the upcoming run.
Moments later, the pack was off, eagerly blowing through the sawdust & paint markings. Realising there'd be an early thirst, your faithful hares set up the first beer stop at Frick & Frack Tap House. A very happy Hash crew arrived, all prepared to drink with cups hanging around their necks. They enjoyed a cup or two of Molson's finest Canadian, graciously provided by Frank & Nicole. A short break, and off the pack headed down the alley, and up towards Columbia.
Joanne, Craig and Rebecca, with Tasha, Sean and Mira, found the etiquette of the trail hard to follow when encountering an intersection, but caught on after P-On-On explained what gets kicked out when there's sawdust at an intersection. I am sure the RA will offer more instructions for the next Hash on Grey Cup Weekend (“already prepping my speech” - RA).
Two falsies later, the pack arrived at the home of No Names Laura & Tammy – who kindly volunteered their front porch as a self-serve beer stop...mmmm...chug chug...and on the road again, with No Names Laura & Diane now aboard. East down Nicola and the back alleys, admiring the gardens and avoiding dog walkers, a jog through Prince Charles Park, and the runners were back down to Battle, then Victoria Street. Which way to go at 10th? Back downtown to beer, or through the underpass to oblivion!?! It's the Hash, Oblivion rules!!!
A delightful jaunt along the River's Trail followed...though the runners found themselves taking the water's edge instead – a scenic run along the South Thompson, with a vague yet tempting bouquet of putrid salmon in the air...mmmm!! Somehow all runners kept their feet on the somewhat slippery surface. The walkers & runners met up again at the boat launch at Pioneer park where Corporal Punishment had set up Pit Stop #3 at her jeep...thoroughly enjoyed by the thirsty hashers.
With the exception of No Names Judy & Rebecca, who apparently have a problem with directions, the pack headed off across the park, and down to the beach, which they then followed out to Riverside Park. The pack split, with the runners heading out for a loop of Riverside Park. The walkers headed up past ISC and across the yellow bridge...with exceptions. At this point, SCB's took over, resulting in these few offenders missing Pitstop #4 at Kelly O’Bryan’s. No worries, that meant more beer for the rest of the pack!!! Two pitchers were rapidly inhaled and off the pack headed down Victoria to yet more beer.
It was a straightaway to the final stop at the Noble Pig Brewhouse where Jenna-Lee had another couple of pitchers ready to go – a nice IPA and a tasty Honey Lager. It was time to relax and warm up as the walkers caught up and polished off the last of the beer – a tough job, but they handled it like true veterans!!!
From the Noble Pig, it was a short hop back to the Start, more beer and on with the Circle. The day ended not as it started, warm that is, but that didn't deter Eager Beaver's enthusiasm to find out the name of the Beermaster's home brew. Even Hulkster might just become a beer drinker after one sample of the brown bottle!!!
Many a Down Down was had:
The Hares – Corporal Punishment & Topsy
The Virgins – Rebecca, Craig, Joanne, Tasha, Mira & Sean
No Name Leona – No Hash Shirt after 3 runs – Laura got lucky :-)
Corporal Punishment – Whining about having to buy a shirt
Hulkster, Choo Choo, Rebecca & Judy – Short Cutting Bastards
Hulkster – Using the R*CE word aka Hash Racism
No Name Jacqueline – Forgetting to bring her camera
No Name Craig – Peeing On Trail (which is actually encouraged)
No Name Craig – Not calling out On On
Topsy – Reaching 10 Runs
Following the Circle, beers were finished, No Name Leona bought her shirt, as Corporal Punishment & No Name Jacqueline had done earlier. Choo Choo had a final seat upon the throne (check the pics) – we're all thankful there was no movement!!! Then we were off to a delightful and delicious On After at Frick & Frack Tap House.
Special thanks to our sponsor's for this month's run – we couldn't have done it without you. Frank, Nicole & the good folks up at Frick & Frack Tap House, Warren & Candace for their Irish hospitality at Kelly O'Bryan's and, of course, Jenna-Lee, Richard and their fine crew at the Noble Pig Brewhouse. We hope to run with you again next year, and see you far sooner!!!
Check the Hareline on the Website for details on November's Grey Cup run – Sunday November 28th in Brocklehurst!!
On On – Choo Choo & Topsy.
